We Are Currently Accepting New Clients in The State of Illinois.
Hello and welcome to Phoenix Rising Counseling & Guidance, LLC! My name is Brittany Matthews, and I look forward to assisting you in your mental wellness journey! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Howard University and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from National Louis University. I am currently a student in Adler University’s Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology program, with the intent to learn additional ways to serve the community.
I was born and primarily raised on the West Side of Chicago, Illinois, where I have observed and worked with individuals with substance use, chronic health, and behavioral issues. Additionally, I have helped these individuals work through grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, negative self-image, cognitive distortions, interpersonal issues, and other everyday obstacles. I am oriented toward cognitive behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and motivational interviewing; however, I am willing to amend my practice with any appropriate counseling techniques or evidence-based approaches favored by clients. As a mental health counselor, my main objectives are to aid the wellbeing of others and promote all clients in becoming the best versions of themselves. Furthermore, my therapeutic alliances are safe spaces for clients to explore themselves, regardless of their age, ethnicity, nationality, culture, religion, sexuality, gender identity, or background.
I became a helping professional because I am most passionate about assisting people in empowering themselves, managing their problems, and amplifying their strengths. My core values are behavioral health, holistic wellness, collaboration, self-care, and social justice, all of which I believe are essential in balanced living. In addition, I believe that no matter how grave life may seem or how unfortunate circumstances are, we all have some responsibility and control to facilitate change; moreover, I aim to assist clients in discovering their personal power through self-reflection, self-awareness, and decision-making. I am eager to play a positive role in prospective clients’ growth as I prepare to support their success, peace, and happiness.
I am ecstatic about your interest in our private practice, and I welcome the opportunity to enhance your ability to heal, rise, and soar!
