About Me

Chante Woods, MSW, LCSW

Hello!! My name is Chante Woods, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and owner of Phoenix Rising Counseling & Guidance, LLC. Welcome to my space, a space created to encourage, empower and engage with those seeking wellness through psychotherapy.

A little bit about me, I grew up on the westside of Chicago in the Austin community and understand the unique experiences of being raised in urban Chicago. My social work career has involved working with different types of people in various settings. I have worked as a foster care worker with specialized teens, LGBTQ teens, group homes with teenage girls and pregnant and parenting teens, pre-natal social work in the Lawndale community, and several years as a medical and psychiatric social worker in a major hospital.

I specialize in helping individuals, couples and families manage the various systems that impact life. The problems that we face in life are not really the problems. The problem is how we cope with the problem, how we internalize and give meaning to the problem. As a therapist my role is to help guide the process, help you to reframe the issues, connect the issues to deeper meaning, discard habits that no longer serve you and to open the door to new opportunities and possibilities. My role is to help facilitate growth, change and healing and create a safe space where you are free to explore and express yourself. As a therapist my role is to also challenge clients in therapeutic ways while also exploring and acknowledging the ways in which they have been impacted by social injustice, patriarchy and society.

Several communities ( African Americans, other persons of color, LGBTQ, Polyamorous) have been made to feel unheard, invalidated, unseen both in society and in the therapy room. Phoenix Rising Counseling & Guidance is dedicated to breaking that cycle by offering therapy that is: open, transparent, warm, caring and affordable.
