We Are Currently Accepting New Clients in The State of Illinois.
Hello! My name is Kyerra Henderson! I am a current MSW candidate at Walden University with a focus in Advanced Clinical Practice. I am a Chicago native with years of community organizing experience involving minorities. My work within organizing and personal experience growing up on the south-side of Chicago helped shape the person I am today. I have a strong belief that the experiences and trauma individuals have exposure to in their childhood have a major impact on their overall development. I understand that trauma can look different for everyone and can be processed differently. However, it is not about how or when it affects you, but what you do to address it.
I have professional history as a CRISIS and mental health counselor, addressing the needs of adolescents and adults, and have learned the importance of tailoring treatment to best suit the client’s needs. In therapy, the clients is the expert within their own lives, as such I work diligently to build a positive, trusting and collaborative relationship. I intend to create a space where clients feel welcomed and safe. My goal is to act as a guide as I work with you to uncover trauma and discuss current life stressors. Incorporating mindfulness into my treatment approach I a able to assist you combat negative thoughts and beliefs that may hinder your ability to show up in your life the way you would like. I assist youth, adults, and families who are experiencing depression, anxiety, adjustments to life, trauma, self-esteem, community violence, parenting, and more.
I believe that everyone has the ability to overcome life stressors, it just takes the right amount of support and therapeutic intervention. I use a trauma focused lens to assist individuals and families to identify their trauma, understand it, and develop healthy coping skills. I utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness training, and strengths-based/solution focused when collaborating with clients to promote healing. My goal is to provide support, assist in self-regulation, and empower the client. We all experience situations and perceive them differently, but it’s all about how we get through the experience best individually. I welcome the opportunity to work with you and assist you on your journey to Heal, Rise, & Soar!
