We Are Currently Accepting New Clients in The State of Illinois.
Hello! I am Latasha Lyons, I have been in this field for several years, earning a bachelors degree from Northern Illinois University and a Graduate degree from Adler School of Psychology. Throughout my career I have worked with, adolescents and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, transitional phases, intellectual/developmental disorders, learning disabilities, self-injury, self-esteem, trauma, PTSD, OCD, psychotic disorders, and more. I have spent years working as a mental health provider in the prison system with a vulnerable population that has been cast aside and treated as less then.
I believe in helping clients in their overall journey and struggles within life. Throughout my career I’ve learned the importance of being an advocate in every aspect of a clients life so that they are able to see themselves living and not just existing in order to reach their full potential. It is important for me and the work I do with clients to utilize techniques and strategies that meet each individual client where they are emotionally, mentally and physically and create a holistic approach to treatment. I practice from a strengths based perspective and strive to ensure each client is able to recognize their strengths and use them to facilitate a fulfilling life.
In therapy I combine several theoretical lenses in order to help facilitate change and growth- Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solution focused therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, reality therapy, solution-focused therapy, and schema-focused therapy. The therapeutic relationship and the ability to build rapport and relate to clients is of the utmost importance and I do this by primarily creating a space that is full with empathy, genuineness and unconditional positive regard.
I believe that all clients have the innate ability to usher change into their lives. We all experience situations that at first glance can feel like we’ve been knocked down or knocked out but Growth is often found in these spaces and I work with clients to recognize this growth and expand on it.
I welcome the opportunity to work with you and assist you on your journey to Heal, Rise & Soar!
