Shivani Sharma, MA

My name is Shivani Sharma, and I am a recent graduate of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Northwestern University. At the heart of my counseling philosophy is a deep belief in client empowerment and unconditional positive regard. I strive to create a safe, affirming space where you feel seen, supported, and encouraged to explore your identity and healing journey.

I bring a culturally responsive, integrative, and social justice–oriented approach to therapy, always tailoring the work to meet you where you are. My role is not to lead, but to walk beside you—supporting you in navigating challenges and celebrating growth along the way.

During my time as Vice President of the DEI Student Advisory Board at Northwestern, I worked to uplift marginalized voices and ensure they are not only heard but valued. My passion lies in helping individuals from all walks of life feel empowered in their stories, especially those navigating systemic barriers or cultural complexities.

Before pursuing my MA in Counseling, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo and worked in the corporate sector. This experience gave me firsthand insight into the inequities many face in systems that often silence or overlook marginalized voices. I also served in community crisis counseling during the pandemic, providing psychoeducation and group/individual support to underserved communities—an experience that deepened my commitment to advocacy and healing.
